The territory and its identity
Located in the heart of Parilly Park, in the Rhône department, the Parilly athletics stadium is a key sports facility for the Lyon metropolitan area. Recognized at both regional and national level, it hosts local clubs and high-level competitions alike, in a remarkable landscaped setting on the outskirts of the Lyon metropolitan area.
A place for training, performance, and the transmission of sporting values, the Parilly Stadium plays a key role in the development of athletics and high-level sport in the metropolitan area.
Initial challenges and findings
Before renovation, the stadium's facilities no longer fully met current requirements in terms of athletic performance, accessibility, and energy efficiency. The lighting, a key factor in competition certification and athlete comfort, had to be completely redesigned to accommodate a variety of uses: daily training, regional and national competitions, and special events.
The challenge was twofold: to ensure a level of illumination that complied with the most demanding federal standards, while limiting the environmental impact of the installation in an open and heavily frequented site.
A shared vision and clear objectives
Supported by the Lyon Metropolitan Area, the Parilly Stadium renovation project is part of a broader initiative to modernize public sports facilities. The objectives were clearly identified:
provide athletes with optimal lighting conditions,
make the equipment fully accessible and versatile,
reduce energy consumption,
control light pollution,
make the project part of a responsible and sustainable approach.
Lighting was to become a performance driver, but also a marker of the project's environmental excellence.
The approach and support
The stadium renovation began in October 2024 and was completed the following summer. It covered all of the facilities: renovated stands, accessible changing rooms, modernized jumping and throwing areas, a new track and turf, and a complete overhaul of the sports lighting.
Alongside the Lyon Metropolitan Area, the project brought together numerous partners—project management assistance, project management, construction companies, sports federations—in a collective, demanding, and coordinated approach. The Nexiode, Eclatec, and GHM teams supported the project from the design phase onwards to ensure a technical solution perfectly suited to sports use.
The Nexiode solution deployed
The Parilly Stadium is now equipped with the latest generation of KERIS LED sports floodlights, designed to meet the demands of high-level athletics. This equipment, 100% designed and manufactured in France, offers excellent light output, high photometric accuracy, and increased durability.
The solution is complemented by the Wizard intelligent remote management system, developed by Nexiode Agora Connect. It enables precise control of lighting according to activity levels and types of competition, while ensuring perfect control over energy consumption.
Key features and practical uses
Thanks to Wizard remote management, stadium lighting can be adjusted in real time to suit requirements:
specific scenarios for training or competition,
adjustment of lighting levels according to discipline,
centralized and secure management,
scheduling and management of sports calendars.
The solution also guarantees that there is no light pollution outside the site, thus preserving the park and its immediate surroundings.
Results and benefits observed
The new lighting system offers athletes optimal visual comfort and conditions that comply with federal standards, including for high-level competitions.
From an environmental perspective, the combination of LED technology and remote management significantly reduces energy consumption and allows for more efficient use of equipment.
For the community, the solution offers reliability, ease of operation, and long-term cost control.
A scalable solution for athletic performance
The Parilly athletics stadium has thus become a benchmark in intelligent sports lighting. Remote management provides a scalable foundation that can accommodate future uses, new sporting requirements, and regulatory changes.
Through this project, Nexiode demonstrates that sports lighting can combine performance, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness, benefiting both athletes and local communities.
